DESE-Approved Screener and Diagnostic Assessments for No Cost (2020-2021)
Given the significant disruptions and varied student engagement during remote learning, Massachusetts educators are seeking to understand and assess how their students are performing academically. This will enable them to make informed instructional decisions that meet their students’ individual needs while maintaining on-grade-level expectations.
In an effort to support schools and districts, DESE has approved Istation’s screener and diagnostic assessment tools at no cost for the 2020-2021 school year. The following assessments are approved: Istation’s Indicators of Progress (ISIP™) Reading for PK-8, ISIP Español for PK-5, and ISIP Math for PK-8.
According to DESE, ISIP assessments:
- Provide valid and reliable data;
- Assist teachers in adapting their instruction based on identified student need and growth trends;
- Provide actionable data that is clear and easy to interpret; and
- Enable ease of communication with students, families, and other stakeholders.
